I know it seems strange, but my economics teach said I don't need to feel bad about playing online slots. I guess it makes sense to play. I always new it did, i just couldn't articulate why. Well, here's the economics that say it's good to play...

While getting my MBA one of the concepts that I actually found pretty interesting was the utility curve theory of money.
The way it works, basically, is to look at the marginal utility of each additional dollar you have, rather than its fundamental economic value.

For instance, to a starving fellow in the street with no ready money at all, the marginal utility of a single dollar is incredibly high, as it can mean at least a bit of food that might literally wind up saving his life.

However, for me (luckily), my quality of life is so completely unchanged whether I have an additional dollar or not that its utility is extremely close to zero. I would likely never notice if a dollar happened to fall out of my wallet once a week for the rest of my life.

However, on the flip side, for me (unluckily, as I've not wealth of that magnitude), my quality of life would undergo pretty drastic changes were I to win big at free nine line slots.

So, while the utility lost to me from spending a dollar on free nine line slots is extremely close to zero, the utility gained were I to win would be astoundingly large.

Therefore, it likely makes sense for me to play free nine line slots on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. If you're serious about making money, the three 7 of spades $5000 prize definately raises the odds for their blackjack game over 100%.

I think that there is a parallel with the free nine line slots. The long term payout of free nine line slots is around 99%. This long term payout assumes that you play long enough to hit a fairly sizeable jackpot. Something on the order of $2,000-10,000. Once you hit the jackpot, the payout on the slots is around 99%. Before you hit a jackpot, the short term payout of free nine line slots is 95%.

The short term free nine line slots payout (the stuff you experience on your day to day play before you hit a jackpot) is around 95%.

The trick is to use the deposit bonues to increase the short term payout to over 96%.

The key thing is to have disipline, and only make deposits when you can get around $125 for each $100 you deposit.

I don't know why someone would want to play slots in a land casino. Maybe they don't know that the payout is only 85% (the lottery keeps 15 centgs of what the collect in bets) and that online casinos only keep 1 cent out of every dollar bet.

My theory is that they're retarded, behind the times and just don't know that the winners play online. It's only the losers that are still playing in casinos.

I'm going to come out and say this. All these bonuses are well and good. They give you free money here, free money there and you get the occasional comp too. Commodore casino bought me a free trip to Vegas a while back. It was really fun.

But here's my point. I play because it's really fun. I love gambling. There I said it. I just really like the excitement. I think it's fine to really enjoy gambling. It's just that there's a problem. You'll lose your shirt gambling in vegas.

So my solution is to play online. I have hours of fun. Yes, sometime I lose. But I also win sometimes. At the end of the month, I might be down a hundred bucks, or I might be up $200.

I agree with one of the dudes that posted above. Figgin movies are expensive, a trip to vegas is expensive. Stuff's expensive. If you want to be entertained, you gotta pay for it. Personally, my thoughts are a little more in-line with the economist that posted above. I too make a fair bit of money. Enough so that a few bucks spent here and there on 9 line slots won't kill me. But man, would winning a big jackpot on the slots ever be nice! I used to play lotteries, but I realized that the payouts on the 9 line slots are much better. Now I play online. I spend a few bucks each month and have alot of fun.

To answer your question, "yes and no". Yes, you can go around and make money with the online casino signup bonuses. You'll make around $150/bonus that you get. This is pretty good money. You should take you about 1hr of effot to get the $200 bonus. So you're looking at an houly wage of around $150 for playing online.

There is however, one little problem. The casinos will get upset and ban you from their casinos. It may seems like there are zillions of different onlie casinos out there. This is sort of true. There are zillions of casinos, but they are all run by a handful of companies. It's pretty easy to get banned from them. I reckon you could probably get 5-6 bonuses and then you'll be banned from getting any more signup bonuses.

Personally I think it's missing the point of the whole online gaming thing. You play online because
(a) it's fun and
(b) the odds are way better than vegas.

Sure, you can get these loss leader bonuses, but you can only make so much money playing them before they'll dry up.
